Corporate Video Production in Sydney: The Complete Process, Step by Step

If you’ve never commissioned a corporate video, the process can seem mysterious. In fact it follows a clear sequence, and knowing what happens at each stage makes it easier to plan, budget and get a great result. Here’s how a typical corporate video comes together.

Stage 1: Discovery and brief

Everything starts with understanding what the video needs to achieve. Expect questions like:

  • What’s the goal: sales, recruitment, investor relations, training, brand awareness?
  • Who’s the audience, and where will they watch?
  • What’s the one key message?
  • What’s the timeline and budget?
  • Who needs to approve the video?

The output is a clear brief and a proposal with scope, deliverables and cost.

Stage 2: Concept and script

Next comes the creative approach: interview-led, presenter-led, voiceover with b-roll, animation, or a mix. For scripted videos, the script is written and refined with you. For interview-led videos, a question plan and structure are agreed. This stage usually takes a few days to two weeks, depending on approvals.

Stage 3: Pre-production

The practical planning: shot list, schedule, locations, talent, interview times, equipment and a call sheet. Our pre-production checklist covers this in detail.

Stage 4: The shoot

A typical corporate shoot day includes:

  1. Set-up: lighting, camera and audio for the interview location.
  2. Interviews: 20–40 minutes per person, with coaching to help them relax.
  3. B-roll: footage of the workplace, team, products, customers and processes.
  4. Extras: drone, vertical content for social, stills or behind-the-scenes clips.

Most corporate videos need one or two shoot days. Crews aim to minimise disruption to your workplace.

Stage 5: Editing

The editor assembles the story, selects the best soundbites, adds b-roll, music, graphics and captions, and delivers a first cut, usually within one to two weeks.

Stage 6: Review and revisions

You review the cut and give consolidated feedback. Two rounds of changes is typical. Tip: gather everyone’s feedback into one document so the editor gets clear direction.

Stage 7: Finishing and delivery

Final colour grading, sound mixing, graphics polish and export to every format you need: web, social, presentations, captions. You receive the finished files, ready to publish.

Typical timeline

  • Brief and proposal: about a week
  • Script and pre-production: one to two weeks
  • Shoot: one to two days
  • Edit and revisions: two to three weeks

Overall, most corporate videos take four to six weeks from brief to delivery. Faster turnarounds are possible when needed.

Tips for a smooth project

  • Nominate one decision-maker on your side.
  • Give the crew access to the people and places you want filmed.
  • Brief interviewees early and reassure them it’s a conversation, not a test.
  • Think about distribution before the shoot, not after.

FAQs

What’s the ideal length for a corporate video?

For most websites and social channels, 60–120 seconds. Training and investor videos can be longer when the content needs it.

Do we need a presenter?

Not necessarily. Many of the most effective corporate videos use interviews with your own team and customers.

Can you film at multiple offices or sites?

Yes. We regularly film across Sydney, NSW and interstate, and plan schedules to make multi-site shoots efficient.
